Inversion Point
Henry Ford is quoted as saying never make for the sake of making.
This has struck a chord with me as I have been writing these blog posts daily in addition to recording videos of myself on a daily basis.
One could argue that I am in the process of making for the sake of making.
But I would argue that while I could be making for the sake of making, I am also making with intention despite not having an audience.
I am making to refine my craft.
I am making to hone my ideas.
I am making to practice discipline.
I am making to cast votes in the direction of who I want to be.
To get to where I want to be, I need to get repetitions under my belt. Part of getting repetitions is making for the sake of making.
While making for the sake of making is necessary initially to refine what you are working on, there is an inversion point where you have to focus on refining fine details.
I am not to that point yet and I’m not sure where that inversion point lies.
But it exists, and I’ll let you know in retrospect if I hit it on the head or I missed it by a mile.
Until then, let the making for the sake of making continue.
